Help Me help millions
Update: Thank you to everyone for your support and generosity! Give An Hour has received over $10,000 from my campaign, and Beyond Blue has received a match from me of everything you all donated! Mental health is such an important part of our lives, and I want to thank you for spreading its awareness.
Denali, once known as Mount McKinley, in Alaska is the tallest mountain in North America. Mount Everest may be the highest mountain on Earth, but Denali is taller than Everest when it comes to prominence. It is undisputed that conquering either mountain is no easy feat. Another challenge that is even more difficult to conquer is overcoming any mental health issue. I want to dedicate my upcoming Denali climb to raise awareness of mental health.
As some of you know, I lost a great friend, Stephen Gazecki, to suicide on October 5, 2018. Stephen served in the United States Marine Corps. After the Marines, Stephen was employed by UPS, a member of the South Carolina National Guard, and a student at the College of Charleston. Stephen was adventurous, genuine, and a great brother to his friends. I look back and wish I could have changed his story-line.
If family, friends, and I are not suitable outlets to talk, the people at Give An Hour are there to help. Give An Hour (GAH) provides help and hope to those in need through a range of services and programs dedicated to mental health. I am raising $10,000 for Give An Hour—all donations are US tax-deductible. To maximize our impact, your contributions to GAH will be matched by me to support an Australia-based mental health, suicide prevention nonprofit: Beyond Blue. This campaign will run until June 15, 2019.
